What we collect

What The Rules doesn't have user accounts or logins. The only form on this site is theContact page, which uses a third-party service, Formspree, to deliver your message to us by email - Formspree processes the submission on our behalf, and what you enter (and an optional email address, if you want a reply) is only used to respond to you, not added to any mailing list. See Formspree's own sitefor how they handle data in transit. Our hosting provider separately keeps standard server logs (things like IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and troubleshooting purposes, the same way virtually any web host does.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site - for example, which pages are popular and how people find us. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information like your approximate location (city/country level), device and browser type, and the pages you visit, but does not identify you personally. Google may process this data on its own servers in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using theGoogle Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or manage cookies directly via your browser settings - see Cookie Settingsfor more.

Third-party links

Some pages link out to Amazon as part of our Amazon Associates affiliate program (see ourDisclaimer for details). Clicking one of those links takes you to Amazon's site, where Amazon's own privacy policy and cookies apply, not ours - we don't control or receive any personal data about you from those clicks beyond aggregate, non-identifying sales reporting.

Children's privacy

This site is a general-audience reference and isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If how we handle data changes - most likely once we add analytics or advertising - we'll update this page to reflect it, along with the "last updated" date above.
